Bobbitt Drive // AMDG Studio

This project began as a modest remodel of a cut-up ranch style home but evolved into a full new build to align better with the client’s needs, including an open and light-filled space to cook, bake, and entertain. Additional structures were added, including a detached garage and a pool cabana.

The home is designed to accommodate a wheelchair in the future, as well as a dedicated suite for a future caregiver. All floor level changes were eliminated, which allows the homeowner to move freely from the garage to the house without challenging steps. There is also a “hidden” ramp in the front.

The home incorporates many mainstream green techniques, such as structural insulated panels for the roof (allows for easy cantilevers for generous overhangs), open-cell spray foam insulation, high efficiency HVAC equipment, on-demand water heaters, high-performance glazing, and LED lighting.

The material palette includes corner glass units, exposed steel beams, walnut millwork and flooring, douglas fir ceiling and soffit at the clerestory, metal fascia, Lueders limestone, and level 5 drywall throughout.
