This ground-up custom modern home is inspired by both mid-century design and Asian influences as a nod to its owners' love of travel and their previous chapter of living abroad. The home replaces the clients' former home on their property.

The home’s imposing brick exterior gives way to a warm wood material palette that is deconstructed into screens separating public and private spaces. The home has an abundance of windows and natural light.

Design features include several indoor/outdoor spaces with surprising connections. Wide sliding glass doors connect their living and central courtyard entertainment area, and an indoor/outdoor fireplace punches through the exterior wall. The brick exterior unexpectedly curves to accommodate an outdoor shower, creating a luxurious, spa-like experience in the master bathroom. Each part of the home maintains a visual or material connection with adjoining rooms, without sacrificing privacy.
